Read Proverbs 31.
We have all been faced with that glorious example of womanhood, the Proverbs 31 woman. And who amongst us hasn’t at times been frustrated in our attempt to live up to this wonder woman. But let me ask you if you have ever heard of the Proverbs 31 MAN?
I didn’t think so. Actually he was introduced to me by my husband. You will find him in verses 11 and 28. As in all aspects of the marital relationship, Proverbs 31 is a two way street. The Proverbs 31 man has confidence in his wife. He believes in her. He trusts her. He supports her endeavors with his confidence and trust. And look very closely at verse 28. He blesses her and praises her. It would be kind of hard to bless and praise without actually opening your mouth and saying something. It doesn’t say he does these things in his heart or mind. He does it publicly. Basically my husband’s idea is that the Proverbs 31 woman is the Proverbs 31 woman, because the Proverbs 31 man is doing his part.
The idea of praise and confidence, belief in a person and trusting someone isn’t something that enriches only the marriage relationship. It is an integral part of any relationship. None of us perform well with criticism, skepticism, and curses. Our children need to know we have confidence in them. They need to hear our blessings and our praises. The work place, the home, the church, the community, etc are all places to practice being a Proverbs 31 person!
I am forever grateful for the example of my own Proverbs 31 Man to me and those around him.
Question: Who needs you to be Proverbs 31 to them?
