The sanctuary was filled. Not a seat in the house as the worship leaders entered the sacred room carrying cross, candle and Holy Scripture. Nathan and Pastor Jean Claude orchestrated the holy service so that all present were able to hear, sing and dance in their heart language. The theme of peace was proclaimed from the words of Jesus, ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’ John 14:27 One of the highlights of the morning worship was when the Congolese children shared sacred traditional African songs and dance with the congregation.

Houston, we have a problem! by Nell Green

I sat down in the Houston courtroom. I looked around noting other anti-trafficking advocates who were also there to observe the federal criminal trial of Hortencia Medeles Arguello known as “Tencha”.  Several women were to testify about their trafficking ordeal and Tencha’s role as a ring leader. Tencha had trafficked and sold girls as young as 14 to men for the purpose of sex for more than 6 years.
